Very good article. And an extremely pertinent topic.

I know several “men of the cloth” who carry, as they should (weapons fall well within the “rod” part of “the rod and the staff” of the shepherd).

Ministers are commanded to guard their flocks–physically as well as spiritually. That first part has been overlooked for far too long.

Fr. Zuhlsdorf is great. He has a new post up today about going shooting with Minneapolis SWAT

If I didn’t know better I’d swear he’s Ann Barnhardts’ priest. He’s in MN and she’s in CO so I’m pretty sure they haven’t met.

Go to Ann Barnhardt’s site. A couple of weeks ago she started including a religious depiction (painting, statue, etc.) with her daily Lord’s Prayer, in which the main character is holding the assault weapon of the time, aka sword, spear or knife.

And she has also been running a series of posts interpreting various Bible verses to prove that Jesus was not some wimpy pacifist, and that he commanded his disciples to protect themselves as necessary while spreading the Gospel.
