There was a guy that would parachute out of planes with Peregrine Falcons. He would drop the falcon out at 15,000 feet and then follow the bird out. A lure would be dropped and the bird’s speed would be determined by a meter attached to the falcon’s tail feathers. The falcon would enter her stoop which must be seen to be believed. Eventually, the falcon reached a speed of 242 MPH. I don’t think that fast.
Now you know why a pigeon being hit by a Peregrine Falcon in a stoop explodes in a shower of feathers like someone blowing on a dandelion.
